I answer the questions you send to Ask Dee on-line. Honestly, this is the most enjoyable opportunity I have had in my many years in education. I get to "meet" so many of you on-line.

In my other life, I am the mother of two married daughters and the grandmother of Asher, Helena, Ronan, Eden and Clover. I promise not to post too many pictures of the grandchildren.

I began teaching in the St. Louis Public Schools in 1970. I spent six years in a private school in St. Louis in the early 1980s. In 2006, I retired as a full-time educator from the Kirkwood School District in Kirkwood, Missouri.

In my spare time, I like to walk and read. My ideal vacation would include a hike or service or both. I am able to travel for pleasure with family and friends all over the U.S. and world. Over the years, I have touched my toe in all 50 states. I still would like to go to all the continents, but I have three left. My nine-year-old grandson told me he would go to Antarctica with me. Wasn't that generous of him?

About My Classroom
I do not have my own classroom any more. I have had the wonderful opportunity of visiting in the classrooms of many teachers around the Midwest training and coaching READ 180 and System 44 teachers.
Experience and Training
In the last 15 years, I supported READ 180 teachers in a suburban district near St. Louis and have worked with READ 180 teachers in urban and rural school districts in the Midwest. I have worked with students in all grade levels, from preschoolers to adults, over the years.

In 2002, I took my doctorate in education from the University of Missouri--St. Louis.
Why I Teach READ 180 and/or System 44
I love what READ 180 does for struggling readers. I saw what happened to READ 180 students when I was working in the public schools and now have the wonderful opportunity to work with READ 180 teachers from all over the world through AskDee.
