Philosophy of Teaching All of my life, I have enjoyed working with children and have always desired to teach. It is my belief that no matter what socio-economic background, everyone deserves to achieve his/her educational goals. It is my ambition to facilitate this process.Growing up in the Houston area, I have always been aware of the Cypress-Fairbanks School District. The district's reputation of excellence is well known, not only in the Houston metroplex, but throughout the state of Texas. As a professional educator, it is important to be associated with a school district whose goals for its students are aligned with my philosophy of teaching.
About My Classroom
I have been a READ 180 teacher for seven years in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. For the past 24 years, I have taught in seventh and eighth grade. My 25th year of teaching brought a big change! I decided to teach high school READ 180! I love it! My 29th year of teaching is also going very well! Our theme in our READ 180 classroom is "Passport to Success". We travel the world through the rBook, Independent Reading books and the Software.
Experience and Training
In preparing to teach READ 180, I attended the following READ 180 Summer Institutes: San Francisco, San Diego, Nashville, (3X) Orlando, and New Orleans. This summer I attended the Model School Conference in Atlanta. Through these conventions and my districts in services, I feel like I have learned the program and the philosophy of READ 180.
Why I Teach READ 180 and/or System 44
I love teaching READ 180 because the results are life changing to me and my students!
