Topic Progress Monitor Score

I need help understanding exactly how the Topic Progress Monitor Score is derived (on the System 44 grading report). I have a student who is consistently making failing grades in this category, and I'm trying to understand why. There is very little explanation in any of my teaching resources about what this score is comprised of and what it actually measures. (I have much more experience with READ 180 than System 44.)

As I understand the software, the Progress Monitor is not a single specific test. If students score 70% or below on Code or Words Strategies Topics, they will automatically review those Topics up to two additional times. This is on the portions of the Topics after the student has practiced. If students score below 100% on Sight Words Topics, they will review those Topics up to two additional times. Continued answer: Sight Words Topic Progress Monitor scores that are too low are not flagged so when I take a quick look at the reports it can be a little confusing because the score seems high enough. (2 of 2) Dee, Ask Dee at the READ 180 Community

Thank you, Dee. I was having a hard time explaining this score to parents (since it's on the Grading Report). So now I need to figure out how to best help my student who is consistently receiving failing grades on the Progress Monitor score with the Code and Words topics. I will certainly look at the suggested remediation on the Groupinator, but do you have any other advice on how to figure out what to target? Thank you!

Use the Self-Monitoring Chart to help you target the lesson from the RDI book for System 44. There are specific lessons designed for each of the Topics. Email me directly at AskDee@sbglobal..net, and I can explain how to use it. Dee, Ask Dee at the READ 180 Community
