Getting Started

Do any experienced System 44 Teachers have suggestions as to how to begin the year with students? In READ 180, the First 3 Weeks book is helpful, but I did not see anything similar with the System 44 materials. Help! Debbie

In the Teacher Implementation Guide for System 44 is a section about the first three weeks.  It begins on p. 90.

Debbie...Are you going to be implementing System 44 with your Read 180 students? I am very interested in purchasing system 44 ,but it I do, I want to implement it with my students in Read 180. Joy

Joy, We have System 44 for our REACH Program, our Special Services Kids who have returned to the high school. I have not used it myself yet, although I have helped the REACH Teacher get started. Debbie

My system 44 material boxes did not include a TIG for system 44, like I had for read 180.  luckily I found it on DTZ and saved a copy as well as printed out a copy.  it has some wonderful ideas as well as charts that will be useful. - ashley

Can you post the link you found on DTZ (I'm not sure what that is) regarding the start of the year and charts materials you found for System 44?  I've taught Read 180 and been through all the trainings, but I have never had training on System 44.  Thanks!

DTZ (Digital Training Zone) is located at http://teacher.scholastic.com/products/edservicesondemand/digitaltrainingzone.asp?ESP=EDU/ib/20100113/awa/newcomm_dtz///r180_currentcomm/tout////.  It's probably easier to go to www.READ 180.com and click on the DTZ link.  Once there, choose System 44 under products.  The Teacher Implementation Guide is one of the resources on that first page in the first row. The DTZ is available to teachers in schools that have purchased the Premium Tech Support Plan and whose technology departments have enabled SamConnect. Dee
