What are some good strategies for combining Read-180 and System 44 programs in the classroom?

I am a Special Education teacher and have used Read-180 and System 44. I still struggle with combining the two programs. My first year of combining I had the Read -180 students using the R book and the System 44 students used another book. Last year I had all the students in the Real Book. It seemed to work better, but I would like to have something supplemental for the System 44 students during small group.

There is a special 44Book for System 44 students enrolled in READ 180. You can then use that in Small Group. Additionally, I recommend that teachers use the Self-Monitoring Chart for students to help you differentiate instruction for your System 44 students during Small Group. It will direct you to appropriate lessons in the System 44 RDI book. Email me directly at askdee@sbcglobal.net, and we can discuss this further. Dee Ask Dee at the READ 180 Community
