How can I make READ 180 Next Generation Stage B more rigorous for students who will still get tested on grade-level standards come May?

READ 180 is not as rigorous and I want to make it more rigorous for students who will still be tested on the standards.

  • I would suggest the Stretch Text 2 if you have not done that already.

I am concerned about this too! This is our first year and I'm not sure it's rich enough to be engaging.

READ 180 is designed to address the Common Core standards. I have learned through the years that I don't have to add anything as long as the students are being challenged to improve their reading every day. That means that the class has to be fast-paced with the students engaged by the teacher and follow the READ 180 Model. In Whole Group and Small Group, using the structured engagement routines is key to engagement. Students must also be held accountable for their reading. Dee, Ask Dee
